I spotted Frank's van and decided to remember his name because my long time plumber had passed. Two nights later my toilet broke down. The second toilet was also not up to par. I called Frank the next morning he said he would come after his first appointment. He explained that first he would diagnose the issues. If he did not have everything he needed, he would purchase the supplies and come back the next morning to fix. That's what happened. He answered my questions; explained clearly what the problem was; and made upgrades. When our dream home came along, we made the best call of our lives to Frank Moody. Frank is not only the most knowledgeable master plumber we have ever known and all-around great guy, but he also has a special knack for all things home buying. If you have not met Frank Moody, it is your loss as he is 'THE GOLD' standard in Plumbing in our opinion. Since 2004 when my wife and I purchased our home here in Snug Harbor there have been several occasions that Frank has come into our home 'personally' and has never failed us no matter the situation. Finally, with an older home, our heating system failed us in the dead of winter. (horrors !) but not with Frank as he, himself was with us both day and night to coax our old furnace to keep functioning until the new Unit arrived. That morning, he was here at 6AM and refused to leave until the installation was complete, well after 7PM ! I was referred to Frank Moody two years ago by a friend. Unbeknownst to me when he arrived he recognized the address and had known my parents. He knew the layout of the house and did work for them in years past. In the 2 years since i was referred to him he has fixed a few clogged toilets, replaced bathroom faucets and yearly cleaned a very old boiler. Frank has always been professional, responsive, fair in price. hard working and extremely knowledgeable. He told me then that eventually i would need a new heating system and two months ago he told me the old boiler wouldn't make it thru this winter. I was extremely overwhelmed and he put me at ease explaining every detail about what would be done and who and when others would be entering my house. He went step by step explaining the entire boiler Installation/removal process and replaced new pipes, radiator valves, thermostat and then followed it all up and came back to check that everything was working properly and to show me how my shiny new boiler actually works. Frank just did 2 jobs at my house - installed a new toilet and 2 new faucets. He also disposed the old ones. He gave great suggestions on the size, style and quality, helped to choose the appliances and bought them before coming to the house, which saved me so much time and stress. When he worked on installing the toilet (which involved fixing a leak to the basement), he finished about 1.5 hour before estimated time and charged me accordingly, which saved me about 30% of what I was prepared to pay. This is when I decided to replace the 2 broken faucets with him, too. As I said above, he helped to choose the faucets, bought them before coming and installed the faucets in a couple days. He worked very fast and we are super happy with the results!
The summary: Frank is very professional, knowledgeable, gives great advice and suggestions, saves you time and stress on choosing and getting appliances, works very fast, cleans after his work and the MOST important - he is very honest! Don't we all dream to finally find such ideal plumber?

UPDATE:  Frank installed a back up battery for our sump pump! Sounds easy, but we tried to find a plumber for a few years for this job.  No one knew exactly what we need and where to get it. Frank M. Moody does it again. If I could give 10 stars I would. He renovated part of my sun porch into a half bath. He lined up Cloverleaf Woods(617) 320-4984 and Agolli Electrician (617) 257-9954 as his sub contractors. The whole crew followed CDC guidelines and worked studiously without wasting time. The project started on time and he coordinated every aspect of it. I was never inconvenienced. Frank's work is meticulous. He left the area cleaner than when he arrived and made sure his subcontractors did the same. He stayed in contact with me on a regular basis about the schedule and who would be doing what when. I felt I didn't have to worry about a thing. Frank used quality products and was sure to approve or reject any of the materials used in this AMAZING half bath. Frank Moody has done work in my home 3 times in the past few years and I am very impressed with his work and his work ethic. He is an expert plumbing and heating contractor and in addition, he is an honorable man. He simply does not give up on even the most insurmountable problems.  I would never call any other plumbing contractor now that I have dealt with him and I really hope that he doesn't retire while I'm still a homeowner.

The first time I called him was for an emergency in 2019 when there was a flood on my 4 season porch room. The entire heating zone froze and burst the pipes and radiators.  He came with a helper and replaced the damaged baseboard radiators quickly and efficiently and installed a much better and more effective product than the one that froze. The porch room has been warm and comfortable all year ever since... at least until recently when the boiler itself began to fail.

This year Frank replaced my water heater with a higher quality brand when the 10 year old unit that I had began leaking.  The work was done quickly and neatly and he charged a fair price.  While he was here replacing the water heater I asked him to take a look at my boiler which had also been giving me problems.  It was running almost continuously yet all the radiators in the house were barely getting warm. The boiler is a discontinued Burnham "condensate" type boiler that I got in 2001 through Mass Save and I guess it was discontinued for good reason.

Frank warned me that there was almost no chance of getting parts for that model boiler. Burnham had apparently washed their hands of it years ago. It was very possible that, if it failed that it would have to be completely replaced with a new boiler (a 3 day job that would cost an arm and two legs)

To bring this review to a conclusion.. over the course of the next couple of weeks, Frank did quite a bit of work while off the clock to track down the necessary parts to fix my problem; eventually locating a pump in California and having it shipped here. He had to actually cut out the old pump because it was totally rusted in place and somehow managed to put in the new one.

We thought the problem was solved, but there turned out to be electrical issues with the circuitry on the "mother board" (who knew that boilers had mother boards?? )  Frank returned when I told him that the system was still not right and he spent 4 hours (which he did not charge me for) and he found the short circuit and repaired it.  Now for the first time since last winter, my house is nice and warm again.

Frank Moody's promptness, attention to detail, and commitment to excellent products and services really stood out to me!  If I can help it I will not use another plumber other than Frank.  On a Thursday a few weeks ago the water pressure in my home substantially decreased to the extent I could barely wash any dishes, and the water in the shower was barely coming out.  When using one water source another one wouldn't turn on at all.  Also I lost my hot water.   I suspected the hot water boiler since I knew mine was due to go pretty soon, but I didn't know what would cause my water pressure to go down so substantially.  I tried the larger plumbing companies. Neither called or emails me back and still haven't weeks later.  So I continued to search and I found Frank Moody who I saw with only 5 star reviews on his webpage and 4.5 on Yelp.  

Frank picked up my call right away and told me he'd be over to take a look at the problem and he was over in just a couple of hours!  After about 30 minutes he identified and confirmed the problem to me and I ended up getting a pressure reducing valve and a new hot water boiler.  The diaphragm of the pressure reducing valve was destroyed, and my hot water boiler was leaking.  He gave me the option for a 6 year or a 10 year water boiler.  I chose 10 because the price was only just slightly higher, and it even comes with a 10 year warranty in which Frank will install a new one without any charge!  The pressure reducing valve has a 5 year warranty on it and he said he'd reinstall that too if that breaks before then.  Even better he was over the very next morning to install it!  It was fortunate for me because not only was the shower cold but I was washing myself with dripping water.    

After he was done with the installation he explained to me the difference of the boiler he installed versus the others.  Mine had ion rods that would allow the boiler to last at least 10 years or a new hot water boiler.  He also pointed out that one of my neighbors had illegal parts to their water boiler because they weren't safe enough and other flaws in how they were installed.  He definitely knew what he was doing and he was committed to providing excellent service.

In the aftermath the water pressure in my place has never been better.  My wife used to complain that it wasn't strong enough, and water sources would decrease if another one was used.  That is no longer the case.  She is very happy with the shower and she definitely enjoys them more.  Happy wife happy life!  And I was so happy with his service that I ended up getting a new sink installation too.  

Bottom line is I think I will avoid using the big plumbers.  In fact I won't use anyone other than Frank until he retires.  Use a guy who pays great attention to detail and takes pride in his work and making his clients happy!

I called Frank on a holiday weekend and left a message. He called back in about an hour and checked my hot water tank with three hours of my original call. He provided me with a quote and an appointment shortly after. I was very impressed with his responsiveness and assessment. I will definitely call him again to take care of plumbing issues.

Frank just did 2 jobs at my house - installed a new toilet and 2 new faucets. He also disposed the old ones. He gave great suggestions on the size, style and quality, helped to choose the appliances and bought them before coming to the house, which saved me so much time and stress.  When he worked on installing the toilet (which involved fixing a leak to the basement), he finished about 1.5 hour before estimated time and charged me accordingly, which saved me about 30% of what I was prepared to pay. This is when I decided to replace the 2 broken faucets with him, too. As I said above, he helped to choose the faucets, bought them before coming and installed the faucets in a couple days. He worked very fast and we are super happy with the results! 

The summary: Frank is very professional, knowledgeable, gives great advice and suggestions, saves you time and stress on choosing and getting appliances, works very fast, cleans after his work and the MOST important - he is very honest! Heating system was not working correctly. Called Frank for appointment and arrived next day. After further diagnosis zone valves and aquastat was needed to make repairs whole. Before he arrived to install parts, I asked if there was anything I could do to make his job easier. Once he gave instructions that bleeding heating system radiators was part of the work that was to be done I went around the house to move all tables and junk near radiators so that he and is co worker could bleed all the radiators in house. It was roughly a 4 hour project. Mr Moody is my go-to person for plumbing and heating issues.

If you get anything from this review it should be this ... Frank Moody is, by far, the best plumber in the Quincy area. Don't even think about calling anyone else. I wish I knew that 22 years ago, when I came to Squantum. A few days of zero degrees and sustained high winds caused my baseboard radiators to freeze while I was away on vacation. The weather warmed and hot water steamed my front porch to the tune of $7,000 in damages. When I returned to Squantum, I called Frank Moody on the recommendation of a good friend. It was a very busy time for plumbers because a lot of people had frozen pipes that week. In spite of that, Frank got back to me by phone within a few hours to determine the scope of the problem. The fact that I had already shut off the heating zone water supply meant that my problem could wait while he helped the folks who were not so lucky, but he came over to see the job first-hand the next day after handling the emergencies. At no point did I get that, "Where the heck is that guy?" feeling that I have come to expect with most tradesmen. He inspired trust right from the beginning. Frank came back twice more, pulled out the broken, inefficient baseboard radiators and replaced them with high output, commercial radiators that now keep my porch livable all through the winter.

Above and beyond is an accurate description of Mr. Moody's service! A few weeks ago, my husband was working on the bathroom sink drain and got in over his head, I quickly realized that we needed a professional plumber. Mr. Moody was too busy to take on another job that day but he offered to stop by, identify the problem and tell us what needed to be done. He shared his expertise gratis. We were able to temporarily fix the drain. A couple of weeks later, we decided that we needed a permanent solution and a couple of other related things needed to be addressed. Mr. Moody stopped by, inspected all the issues and said he'd send a pricing proposal to us promptly (He did.) We hired him (well, we got on his calendar; since he is so good, he's a busy plumber.) He called us the night before he was coming by to do the work and arrived promptly the next day. When he opened a wall, he saw that one of the jobs wasn't going to be as complicated as he originally thought, so he reduced our bill. He also repaired the other issues and gave us instructions on how to maintain the new valves, etc. (Easy compared to the old way!) He is a reasonably-priced professional and I wholeheartedly recommend his plumbing services.

I left a message for Frank on a Friday evening and he called back early the next morning and he was at our house by 10 am. We had a cracked drain pipe and also a blockage somewhere within that pipe. Before replacing it he wanted to make sure that the blockage wasn't in the City portion of the pipe. He helped us contact the DPW, who came out the same afternoon and "snaked" the drain pipe from our foundation to the street. The blockage was within our pipe but because they were the original cast-iron installed when the house was built (back in the 1930's), Frank was afraid that they would burst if snaked. He recommended a pvc replacement pipe. We told him that we (2 adults & 3 kids) were literally 'dead in the water" because we couldn't use our sinks, shower, washing machine and toilets (we were staying at my in-laws). He was able to move one of his appointments to accommodate us a little earlier and he was able to begin and complete the pipe replacement the following Tuesday.
Follow up - A couple of weeks later we had Frank come back to fix an issue with one of our toilets. He also checked our other one (he said, "While I'm here... ") and discovered a different issue with that toilet and fixed that for us at no extra charge. He also gave us some recommendations for some future plumbing projects. If we could give Frank 6 stars we would!

Here is a plumber whom you can trust! We have used him several times and he is always straight forward, honest, and dependable. I recently re finished all the floors on the second floor, and was having trouble getting the heating back on after reinstalling the radiators. In a situation that many would taken advantage of and milked us for more work, more money, Frank was immediately helpful over the phone and even more so when he came to the house on two separate occasions to help out. I heard about Frank Moody when he helped fix a leak for my upstairs neighbor, he had to come into my unit to turn off the water. Even then, he was very professional and just an overall nice guy. I was so upset when my garbage disposal stopped working and the engine was straining and blew a fuse...the usual things (button on it, clearing the drain..) did not work as it had once before. I e-mailed him and asked him to call the next day at a certain time and he did just that....came over right on time and opened the disposal from beneath the sink and found the top part of a flimsy fork inside the machine that had broken off when it had gone partway into the drain it seems. Nobody here seems to remember seeing the fork there, but did see the handle and just threw it out!! But the only important thing is that it is gone and the garbage disposal works!!!l...I don't know how it went into the machine and did not break it. He said if I had let the engine run even a bit more it would have burned the engine out....that was what he was afraid of. Me too, because I had no $to get another, never mind install it. He was efficient, courteous and reassuring. It was worth the reasonable price he charged. I plan on having him install a replacement bathroom sink/fixtures when I am able to get them. I would recommend him to anyone.

My previous plumber began sending young kids who were nothing more than inexperienced apprentices. They broke as much as they fixed and I was still charged.
